Challenge

If a new industry came to our town there would be a lot of drastic changes. First, we would have to supply temporary housing until permanent housing became available. For permanent housing to become available, we would have to hire construction workers and they would need a place to stay as well. They would have to stay in trailers, apartments, or hotels. Another problem would be the lack of hotels we have. We would have to put up a small hotel or motel for people to live.

We would have to build another gas station. We only have one and it doesn’t stay open very late. Restaurants are also an issue. We only have a few, and people like variety, especially with that many more people that would be living here. There would be more traffic so you would need more parking spaces. If there were a lot of kids moving as well, schools would have to make changes. Get more desks, possibly more teachers; expand the parking lot, etc.

A main issue with more people moving here would be water. We don’t have a very good water system here and we would have to fix it because some people may not want to buy bottled water. Our water is yellow, and not drinkable. We have had a boil water advisory now for a long time, and it burns your eyes when you shower. People don’t want to move to a new place with no tap water.

If that many new people moved here, we would practically become a city. There would be a lot of changes but I think the community could do it. Also, the community would have to come together and help to pull it off.
