Napoleon Bonaparte- Jessica

Although, a majority of the people in France believed that Napoleon Bonaparte was selfish and worked mainly for himself, I believe that he did a lot of good for the country of Europe. Not only did he expand France into an empire, but he also strengthened the economy by taxing everyone, as opposed to just the third estate paying taxes. Napoleon also created schools, which helped educate more children than previous years. Which in my opinion a free education is one of the best, most beneficial things a person can aquire in their life. Napoleon also, took the idea's of a few french philosophers, and turned them into written laws, also known as the Napoleonic Code. The Napoleonic Code, stated that all men were equal before the law, it guaranteed you as a person freedom of religon, and it also abolished serfdom. In my mind, the only downside to the Napoleonic Code, was that is took away almost all rights from woman and children. Napoleon was a very brave man, which is another reason why i'm so for the him and the changes he brought to Europe. Almost every single change that Europe encountered during Napoleons time, was led by him, and no one else. Napoleon was the first person to stand up for what he believed in, and not just talk about it, but actually make it happen. He was also, a tactician, he often fought at the front, endangering his own life, when he could have very easily sent his troops out to fight, while he sat back and watched. He was not only brave, but also very succesful as well, he accomplished two years of school at once, which really helped him get ahead of things when it came to his future. Although he was defeated in Waterloo, he won many battles as well, such as the battle of Moscow, he also conquered most of Europe. If that's not success, then I' don't know what is.
